The Lime Tree: Outreach Family Support

The Lime Tree is a specialised outreach family support service, targeted at vulnerable families living in the community whose children are at risk of coming into care. Multi-problem families require intensive and protective family support with the hope of preventing further statutory involvement.

The Lime Tree supports and engages with families referred by the HSE Child Protection Service in the Cork South Lee area. A multi-disciplinary team is involved in the service including youth and community workers, social care staff, psychologists and social workers. The majority of interaction with families takes place in the families’ own homes and a range of facilities at The Bessborough Centre are also available.

The Lime Tree is unique in having an out-of-hours service – family workers call to clients’ homes on mornings, afternoons, evenings & nights, during the week and weekends.

Who can refer?

The service has been developed for the HSE Child Protection Service in the Cork South Lee Area and referrals are made through the Principal Social Worker.

Staff Team

The multidisciplinary staff team is led by Dr Calem De Burca, Clinical Lead and Head of Unit.
