What is a Community Employment Scheme

The Community Employment (CE) programme (also known as the ‘CE Scheme’) is an employment programme that offers those unemployed the opportunity to return to a working environment. The community employment scheme offers a unique opportunity to return to a working environment in a diverse and vibrant setting. The CE scheme offers many training opportunities, work experience and allows participants to grain employment related skills.

Throughout a placement, all participants are encouraged to re skill or update their existing skills to enhance their prospects for employment on leaving the scheme.

How to know if you qualify for a CE Scheme

Qualifications for a CE Scheme depend on your age and person situation. If you are aged between 21-55, you must be unemployed & getting a qualifying social welfare payment for 12 months.

If you are aged 55 years and over You must be getting a qualifying social welfare payment for 12 months – as outlined above for people aged between 21 and 55 years.
